Project No.:
Situation: Log Cabin
Resort: The Ranch at Rock Creek
Location: Philipsburg, Montana

The Ranch at Rock Creek is an exclusive luxury guest ranch. This magical facility provides multiple options; private homes, luxurious log or canvas cabins, and the Granite Lodge along with numerous amenities for its pampered guests.

We have designed, planned, and constructed many of the key landscape and hardscape projects at this spectacular resort. This case study highlights just one of the projects; a rental log cabin that we recently landscaped.

Project Objectives:

This newly built log cabin (constructed entirely of old timber) was about to be added to the rental mix. Owner, Jim Manley, contacted us to landscape the property before the cabin became available.

Scope of the Project:

In keeping with the natural and environmentally-friendly culture we started with the basics. We always use the materials that can be found on the grounds. In this case, we prepped the soil by dividing the soil from the rocks/stones. This soil base allows for better water retention, lower maintenance costs, and better foliage growth.

We planted a number of trees, bushes, shrubs around the log house. Then we laid the stone walk-ways and set the curbing for the natural landscape beds. Small plots of grass were added to give the cabin a comfortable and relaxed, but natural appearance.
